htmlHyper Text Markup Language, thats all it is, and that's what browsers understand. When you ask a server for a page it sends back text. In that text are bracketed words that mean things to the browser. Head and BodyTo see the html of this page right click on your mouse and hit 'view source'. You'll see the first tag <html> and then right at the end </html>. Between the two is the html! The next tag is <head> then header information then </head>. After that is <body> with all of the contents of the page then </body>. And thats all there is to it. Format tagsThe rest of the tags are for formatting. The most common are <p> paragraph tags, <h1> .. <h7> heading tags etc. Most of the knowledge of html is removed when you use Dreamweaver, but its good to know what its all about. |
